Former New Zealand and USA age-group coach Jitka Klimková appointed to lead Football Ferns at FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on home soil
Global Elite Sports recently partnered with New Zealand Football to undertake the search for the new Football Ferns Head Coach in the lead up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 to be co-hosted in Australia and New Zealand.
After an international search process which attracted significant interest from around the globe, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Jitka Klimková as the new Football Ferns Head Coach.
Contracted through until the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Klimková is a UEFA Pro License holder and W-League winner with Canberra United. No stranger to New Zealand, the experienced coach was head coach of the New Zealand Women’s U-17s at the FIFA 2014 U-17 Women’s World Cup and has served as Assistant Coach to the Women’s U-20s and the Football Ferns.
A former defender for the Czech Republic, Klimková was appointed the United States Women’s U-19 coach in 2015, and part of the wider staff of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup winning USWNT. She was Head Coach of the United States Women’s U-20 side at the FIFA 2018 U-20 Women’s World Cup.
