The Australian Open continues to grow from strength to strength across multiple metrics with the 2020 tournament smashing several previous records.
A total of 812,174 fans shared the excitement of attending the 2020 Australian Open in Melbourne over 2 weeks, smashing the previous record of 796,435 fans who attended the 2019 tournament. This included a record individual daily attendance of 93,709 on the middle Saturday.
There was 17 per cent increase in viewership across the 2020 tournament compared with the previous year, the fastest growth rate of any major sporting event in Australia in the last 12 months. This years tournament was broadcast live in more than 215 countries across more than 52 channels, reaching more than 900 million homes daily.
850 square metres of digital LED screens were used across Rod Laver Arena (400), Margaret Court Arena (250) and Melbourne Arena (200).
The www.ausopen.com website had 9.53 million users, which was an incredible 50.5% increase from the 2019 tournament with the top five countries by visitation being Australia, United States, Germany, India and the UK.
