ABOUT THE HURRICANES:
The Hurricanes are a New Zealand professional rugby union team based in Wellington, New Zealand that competes in the Super Rugby competition. The 2016 season was the Hurricanes best season to date, winning the Super Rugby Final, after again finishing the regular season first and hosting the final. The Hurricanes also finished 2nd in 2015 and 3rd in 2017 and have experienced significant commercial growth in the last 3 years through effective sponsorship and membership programmes.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for supporting and leading the development and delivery of world class high performance processes and systems, player / staff contracting, talent ID, player / coach development along with seamless succession planning.
You will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of performance strategies which in turn will drive continuous improvement everyday which leads to on-field success, and ultimately the long term sustainability of the Hurricanes’ rugby programme.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience within high performance sporting environments as a leader, performance professional, manager or coach, as well as proven ability to develop effective performance systems to deliver successful outcomes.
You will have outstanding vision, leadership capability, including people management experience, excellent stakeholder relationship skills and commercial acumen. Extensive contracting and Talent ID experience will be a key part of this role. A legal background along with a strong empathy with Rugby Union will be highly regarded but is not essential.
